Genre research: The boy 2

What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

Elements that this movie has based on the genre horror are terror, violence, disturbing images, and thematic elements. By disturbing images it means that there was blood and violent images being shown. There were dead bodies from the murder scenes. The bodies of the people the boy killed were shown in a angle where you could see everything. You saw the blood, the body lying on the floor, wounds, etc. There were also scenes where it showed how the boy was killing them and the process of how it happened. Also a break in was shown. It was dark lighting late at night with the boy breaking in roaming the house. Trying to kill the woman who's peacefully sleeping.

What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?

Me and my group discussed and we like the thematic elements. By this we mean we liked the issues. The boy had some issues with his family. His parents treated him like a real person although it's just a haunted doll. They then abandoned him and left him with just a nanny. This caused the boy to have more issues than he already has. These issues made him into the murder he is. It was trigger to make him want to begin murdering people. These issues made up the plot and the story which is why we like this element of the movie.

What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?

Me and my group discussed it and we didn't like the violent images being shown. We both don't like to see the bloody images in movies. Some people find it cool to see things like that because it makes it interesting. We on the other hand find it disturbing in many ways. When we see the people getting killed in full detail we want to close our eyes. We find it gross because its scary and we've seen it enough in real life in accidents on the road. So that's why that element of the movie did not appeal to us.
