Genre Research: action

Common Camera Angles in action (CAMS):

  • low angle shots. This type of shot will mean that that the audience is always looking up towards the powerful figures and so will establish the power dynamic
  • the vulnerability of the victims can be accentuated through the use of high angled shots

Common Mis-En-Scene in action (CLAMPS):

  • lighting:lowkey lighting to get the nature of the film
  • makeup: used to make it look more realistic
  • props: these props used make up the action film, without them it wouldn't be a action genre.

Common Editing in action:

  • Cut to actors’ faces to remind us of the human factor
  • cut on the movement to add energy and momentum
  • establish and preserve the geography of the space

Common Sound in action:

  • human voices
  • music
  • sound effect
  • These three types of sounds are crucial for a film to feel realistic for the audience

Example Films of the action Genre:

  • hard boiled
  • mad max 2
  • aliens
I enjoy the elements of special affects and stunt work. I think the special affects are what tip the acton movies over the edge of greatness. They add so much spice. i also love the stunt work because it makes the actors seem so much cooler and the characters when watching the movie.

i don't necessarily love the explosions. I think explosions are too much and overall unnecessary. They already are having fights and guns being thrown around so why do we need to add a bright loud explosion to go with it.
