Genre Research: It chapter two

What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

We became aware of a number of components that make up this horror genre. Tracking shots, point of view shots, tilts, pans, and close ups we're all used in this film. We all like the close ups and tracking views because they added to the tense atmosphere. The close up of the clown whenever he appeared made it really frightful. When the new scene was about to start, the pan and tilt took the audience to a new location. Also, when the clown shows up, a non diegetic sound is always associated with him. You can tell he's coming with the sound that plays in the background. The film would seem incredibly lifeless and not seem like a horror movie without each of these components.

What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?

Since this was one of my group and I's favorite movies, there were many elements we really liked. starting off, we did love the movies background sound effects when the clown was going to appear because when that song starts playing, you immediately feel sorry for the movies characters like, you wanted to be there with them because the audience already knows what's coming, which isn't good in this case. Something else my group and i really enjoyed about the elements of this movie was the dark lighting, and the unexpected terror made it so much more thrilling. We became anxious because we wouldn't see what was coming, which heightens the tension of the situation.

What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?

We believe that the movie included way too many graphic details and made me sos scared to the point i wanted to turn off the TV, although the main goal is to make and show freighting stuff. When there were closeups in the movie, they featured graphic violent imagery frequently, which could result in a scare to many viewers. Also, there was an extreme amount of blood in the movie which others could fine entertaining but i found it so disturbing to the point i didn't want to watch these scenes, i closed my eyes.
