Peer review

Image
For the peer review i had my friend Jenna review it. Jenna is a sophomore and 16 years old. She is also in media studies class and participating in the same project as me. She has experience with this project which is why i asked her to peer review it for me. Jenna overall liked the video. She said it had good potential and we used the correct angles. She saw high, low, pan, etc. She also had some negative critics on it though. She believes it needed more suspense. It could've been scarier to add more curiosity. "It would've been cool to add some blood on the knife or on the girl actor" she said. Other than that she agreed that if the movie was out in theaters she would see it. From my perspective i see where jenna could come from. In past blogs i talked about how we added more scenes in. That was so it wasn't so boring and showed people something was coming. We could've made the ending a little more realistic as well. By adding the knife dropping to the grou...

editing blog

We ended up ditching my editing video. Onara and me worked on it together so we could get it done faster and it look better. Onara has better skills then me with technology so i didn't do as much as her. She was able to clip the different scenes together with cool transitions. She used a dissolving one and a bunch of other ones. She got the scenes in order and then proceeded with making them go together. She also had to edit in the knocking sounds. She did that by getting the sounds of youtube and putting it in the segment it was needed in. from there she made the knocking sound louder than the background sound. My job was to find the music which i did. then once we found the free music off youtube we edited it in. We edited the music into the entire one minute and fifty five second video. We had to make the knocking wounds higher than the song and make the song lower for some parts. How we did this is we used the separated scenes to add our own music part in. Since it was its own ...

editing problems

Today is our first day of editing. It didn't start off so great. From our past projects onara always been the editor. Along with me always being the actor. This time i told onara to let me handle the editing. I told her to let me handle it because i needed to pick up my part. This project is a group project and i have been slacking. I feel like a bad teammate and group-mate to onara. I needed to help out more and this was my way of doing it. There were a lot of things I needed to edit. Like putting the scenes together while all of them being in order. Also needing to find a song to put in the video. Also figuring out how to put the song in the video.  Lastly, trying to edit all the words in and the background noises we need. We needed to put a background noise of knocking during 2 of our scenes. The scene were i peak through the window and the scene where i get up to go get the door. I downloaded about 5 different editing apps to help me. I also...

change of scenes

As i said, we had some complications filming. Along with the rain, we also had complications with our scenes. Some of our scenes didn't match up with what we wrote in our blogs. This is because they didn't work swell as we thought they would in our heads. We also added a lot more scenes. We added scenes because we didn't think we were gonna have enough time for everything. We had too do a 5 second scene of just the front of my house. We also had to do 2 POV scenes. One of me looking out the window so you can see a quick vision of the murder. We added the to create more suspense since it was getting boring. All of the scenes we felt like were just me walking back and fourth to the couch. We also added a scene of the murderer looking outside a corner and then quickly running away. This was to show the viewers what the murderer looked like. Also to show that the action was coming soon. We also couldn't find anything to do a low angle with. So we had to add another perspec...

final filming day

Image
Me and onara finally filmed today. She came over after school and we got to work. First we did a little bit of gossiping for an hour. Then we decided it was time to get to work. It was a little rough at first. There were somethings that we hard to film and find an angle for. Also, we didn't know there were mandatory shots and angles we needed to use. We then paused and decided to call up some of our friends. Our friends then answered and helped us figure out what we needed. Some of the shots we needed we didn't even know what they were. We had to take a longer pause and do some research. After about 30 minutes of research we finally came to a conclusion on what we needed. We then continued with our shooting process. It was still rainy out but in the end it helped the film. Since it was a horror film it made the movie look more scary. It definitely worked in our favor in the end. For some senes though we needed a little help. By that i mean my mom ended up helping us. We needed...

attempt at filming

Image
Me and onara attempted our first day of filming today. Let's just say it didn't go as planned. We had planned for her to come over after school to film. Then my softball coach unexpecdectly said we have practice today after school. It wasn't the happiest moment but we agreed she would just wait till its over. It ended at five pm and then we thought we were headed home. Ot turns out we weren't on our way home quite yet. My mom told us she had to make a few stops. She went to the grocery store to get us fruit. Then she had to go to the storage unit to get the easter decorations out so she could decorate the house. Then she decided she was hungry so we stopped at chick film a to get food. Then we started heading home. Once we got home we decided to sit down and start eating our chick fil a because we were hungry after not eating all day. By the time we were finished it was already dark outside and rainy. We tried to film but it didn't work because the camera was getti...
