Creative Critical Reflection 1.         1.  How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?        Our product uses conventions by having the same idea of using sports to reach the correct media   audience. We challenge other conventions by using younger actors. Most commercials have older   people playing the sports. The younger audience are followers, so if they see a young influencer   buying powerade they will follow in their steps and by it as well , that's  the advantage of using   young actors. It represents social groups because its quite literally only using one type group of   people. Once you see the commercials for powerade the whole social group is sports related.      2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?  Our media en...

Filming- Sunny day

Image
Filming Blog- Hard day at the field  On Wednesday, October 5th I started filming with my groupmate Onara. She came over and we started finishing up our storyboard and planning blog. After that we hopped on my golf cart getting ready to leave for filming. First we had to load all our materials on the golf cart. After we did that we started heading over to the field. Once we got to the field, we had to throw all our stuff over the fence because it was locked.  T hen we had to climb over the fence and climb under the fence. We soon realized that we had forgot to get Powerade for our commercial. So then, we had to throw everything back over the fence, and jump over the fence once again. We loaded everything in the golf cart and drove to Walgreens to see if they had Powerade. Walgreens didn't end up having PowerAde either so we went to 7/11.  7/11 ended up not having Powerade either. Then we went to a mini mart which also didn't have the Powerade. Finally, we got to Publix and...

Editing Blog- "More power for you"

Image
Onara was the one who did mot of the editing on the blog. Such as the sound, Powerade sign at the end, the lettering of "more power for you", and more. I cut the scenes to make them shorter. I did this so then we would make it below 30 seconds because it was going to end up being long. That took me about 5 minutes to do. My part of the editing was easy and short except for when we had to retake scenes. We would have to edit a scene and then when we realized it wasn't how we wanted it even after editing we had to retake it. Either it was not a good angle or the lighting didn't turn out how we wanted it too. Some scenes you couldn't see me because the sun was making it look dark on camera. We would try to edit it with apps but it still wasn't working. So then, we had to retake the scenes in different angles and areas. The slogan at the end of the video was my idea to edit in. I told onara it would be a good idea to put "more power for you" when I hit ...

Storyboard Blog

First Scene- In this scene, we will be filming Quinn, the softball player sitting on a softball bench at a softball field. She'll be exhausted from how hot it is outside and because she's been playing softball she's very tired. The props will be by her on the bench. This shot will be a long shot,  to be able to show the location and the full bench with her on it. We included the sport softball for this commercial since it's a very active sport and we had the props for it. Powerade is also for energy, so it would also be on the bench.  Second Scene- Since this is a Powerade softball commercial, we decided she would hit the ball with the bat. Quinn will get up from the bench, and start to prepare to hit the softball, she would also need something to hydrate herself so she walks back to the bench to reach for her Powerade. This would be a medium shot since we would have to show her standing up to prepare her materials and props. Third Scene- Once she grabs her Powerade bo...

Props: My group and I decided to do our commercial on Powerade, so the prop that is most important in this commercial is the Powerade bottle. Some other props included are softball related such as an Easton bat, a softball glove, face-mask, batting gloves, Tee, and softballs.  Costumes: There will only be 1out of 2 of our members participating in the commercial. The other will be filming. The actor will be wearing athletic clothing. This clothing will be athletic navy blue lulu-lemon shorts and white, blue and orange dri-fit athletic shirt. She will be wearing white Nike tennis shoes. She will also be using a hair tie to put her hair up in a ponytail. Schedule: 10/4/22 discussed and established our props, costumes, location, schedule, and back up plan. 10/4/22 Started the research blog and finished the research blog. 10/5/22 submitted research blog. 10/5/22 make the storyboard for our commercial.  10/5/22 we will shoot and record our commercial.  10/7/22 we will sta...

Research Conventions And Codes

Image
My group is doing a commercial on Powerade. most Powerade commercials have athletes partake in their commercials. They have basketball players shooting some hoops, football players in the locker rooms, swimmers competing, etc.  They show the athletes wearing POWERADE sports wear or representing it in some way.  The athletes, for example the soccer players very clearly show that their uniforms have POWERADE on the front of them. When Simone biles was giving speeches they had a Powerade background behind her.  To show that the Powerade is giving them energy and power, the athletes are always active and hyped.  The appearance of the athletes are sweaty, energetic, joyful, and powerful.  The conventions and codes used are the Powerade brand name itself. All athletes in Powerade commercials are wearing uniforms that have the brand on their jerseys, and when they're being active in the commercial, the camera is angled to where you can see the logo name on they'r...
